Twin City Fellowship Chapel is a non-denominational church which is nestled among the beautiful mountains of West Virginia located in the small town of Thomas, WV. Pastor James Strahin is the founder of the church. He was directed by God to start a church in the small mountainous town. At first, he didn't like the idea, but as God dealt with him over a period of time, he consented to go. The first gathering was December 2, 1984 in a small room in the local city hall building in Davis, WV. Four people attended that first service there with the warmth of the holy spirit and a propane gas stove that kept the room warm. Services took place once a week on Saturday evenings. The attendance was small, and kept growing as he and his wife Linda kept on persevering; knowing that since it was God's plan for them to minister there, that it would continue to grow. The attendance did increase. They later started meeting in Thomas, WV, a nearby small town, in a room in an old large school building that was no longer in operation. It was cold there and they were paying rent for the room. By now, the church building project was underway where property had been purchased, and the basement of the church was finished. And so, the congregation started meeting there in the basement with a makeshift altar and fold up chairs. During a Sunday morning service the Lord spoke to a guest minister who was the speaker that morning through a word of prophecy to "finish building the church and I (the Lord) will provide the funds and will fill it (with people)." In obedience to God, the members of the congregation built the main sanctuary over top the basement as they had time after their regular daytime jobs. The funds came in to provide materials for the construction. God blessed their obedience and sacrifices of time and money. God has blessed this ministry also with a Christian conference center named Rophe Christian Conference Center. Rophe means, "God Who Heals"; and He certainly has been with this ministry every step of the way. And, God is not finished yet. We are always seeking God for instructions to do whatever He wants us to do, and to go wherever He wants this ministry to go to reach out to others. To God be the glory, for great things He has done!! |
